Ana Paula Hernandez
Ana is a trained and certified Advanced Bowen Therapist. She first came in contact with Bowen Therapy in 2015 as a patient. Where other therapies had failed, Ana finally got relief from chronic pain that she had suffered most of her adult life. This sparked her interest in how she could help others finally get relief from chronic pain.
With this new perspective, Ana enrolled in a comprehensive Bowen Therapy training and certification course in Ajijic, Mexico. She received her certification as an Advanced Bowen Therapist in 2022.
As an Advanced Bowen Therapist, Ana takes a holistic approach to health care. In addition to Bowen Therapy, she offers her clients nutritional and emotional counseling. She can prescribe supplements when necessary and also offers scenar therapy.
Knowing that many injuries can be emotionally based, Ana is also a licensed and certified Holistic Psycho-Therapist. Combining Bowen Therapy with trauma-release therapy, she helps her patients finally get relief from life-long health issues.
With more than 22 years as an energy worker, Ana uses meridians, bio-feedback, and trigger points to customize the care for each of her patients.
Ana began as a yoga instructor at the Prana Yoga College in Vancouver BC in 2002. The college ignited her passion to explore the various styles, forms, and teachings of yoga. She immediately completed a series of certifications:
Yin Yoga under the guidance and first generation teacher, Bernie Clark in 2004
Restorative Yoga
Various advanced workshops in anatomy and Ayurveda
Enthusiasm to heal the human body and learn new techniques led her to become certified in Mat Pilates under the guidance of Martha Hernandez.
In 2007 Ana completed a full year of Ayurvedic cooking and medicine courses with Dr. Shiva Varma.
Ana had the pleasure of being an active teacher from the beginning of her career. She was a Senior Teacher at Prana Yoga College where she would go on to be part of the teacher certification teaching team.
She taught corporate yoga classes throughout downtown Vancouver as part of the Vancouver Corporate Yoga Team. She was also the administrator and teacher at Yaletown Pilates.
In 2008 Ana returned to Mexico where she started a private Shala at home. Her practice grew quickly and she would eventually open Drishti Center.
Due to the large retired community in Chapala, Ana began to study and develop techniques for older people with adaptations, use, and prop management.
Also, she formally began training teachers under the Yoga Alliance YACEP YART200 YRT500 accreditation at Drishti Center.
In 2011 Ana took a certification course in Thai Yoga Massage under the guidance of Richard Varney to improve her techniques and the use of adjustments in therapeutic classes.
In 2012 Ana began to develop an interest in Ashtanga Yoga, studying under Marilyn Goder. She would go on to complete a full immersion course with Angie Flores in 2016 at Drishti Center.
In 2013 and 2014 Ana took her certification in Prenatal Yoga and Yoga Kids under the guidance of Lorena Martínez Mitchel from Los Gatos California.
In 2015 Anthony Bogart, a well-known teacher in the United States moved to Ajijic and became part of the Drishti Center. Under his guidance, Ana studied Therapeutic Yoga, Healing, Stabilization, Adjustments and Advanced Studies, Philosophy, and Teaching Skills
In 2017 Ana received her Yoga Nidra Course certification from Michelle Denis, a well-known teacher from New York.
Throughout her time in Mexico, Ana has organized yoga retreats to Costa Alegre with international attendance. Not only responsible for teaching, but she also created the menus, whether they are Ayurvedic, vegan, or vegetarian.
Fully bilingual, Ana has experience in conducting large classes in English and Spanish with simultaneous translation.
After moving Drishti Center fully online in 2020, Ana now devotes her time to helping patients find long-lasting pain relief through Bowen Therapy, Scenar Therapy, Nutritional Counseling, and Emotional Counseling.
